About the Poem
Our Lady has seen many things; the poor, the oppressed, the "huddled masses yearning to breathe free." Now she has seen another sight ... the desecration of her borders by evil.
How would she feel if she were real?
The Day I Saw My Lady Cry |
by Michael Mack |
She stood there with her torch held high To watch planes falling from the sky As silver bullets ripped apart The center of her loving heart With disregard for sanity In senseless act of lunacy She saw her children fall and die The day I saw my lady cry. I LIFT MY LAMP ... so reads her plaque Just miles from terrorist attack Her open doors now violated By pure evil orchestrated Hounds of Hell have been released And Good must rise to kill the Beast. I saw her head droop, shaking "Why?" The day I saw my lady cry. Her tears will bring on bitter rain Unleashing winds of hurricane To circle globe in whirlwind force Uncover evil at its source Then seek exacting recompense From those who prey on innocents. They'll not forget, as time goes by, The day they made my lady cry. |

OMG! I just started to bawl when I read this poem. My dad was a fireman in 9-11 and died. He has always been a part of my life and it shattered my heart to have him taken away from me. He always talk about the Statue of Liberty as "My Lady" and the way you wrote the poem it just brought back all the memories of my dad. Thank-you so much for this poem!

Very earthy, perhaps a true "va nu pieds" poet. moving, unique, profound, "raide","epouvantable" I heard her weep. for the sacre coeur of freedom , democracy, consideration, reason and intelligence. oh how i yearn to see these people think, reason, understand, appreciate and embrace. will it ever be possible in such a region of the world?

I would like to take the time to tell you that you have obviously touched many hearts with your Beautiful poem. I have to say that the tears I just cried were different from the tears that were shed on Sept.11. I cried the for the people who were killed and or injured. For people who lost a love one. All of those people were the most important person in someones life and for that I cried for America. Now I cried because I see that we are truly strong people. I cry to see how you and others can put this into words and not only do people read what you write but they feel it too! I know I felt it and will feel the words of your poem for years to come. You and the rest of America are in my prayers. We will continue to stand tall. Amazing!
Michelle
