About the Poem
This poem screams from my life experiences, pleading to be shared.
Dark Times |
by Rosemary J. Gwaltney |
Vultures are circling in boiling purple Seattle clouds Over the King County Jail. Huge, black birds of prey in deadly deliberate, Ever-tightening orbits, glaring down. Biding their time, drooling with desire, Clenching their talons, Ready for the devouring of flesh After the kill. They can hardly wait, Their hunger is so great. Their passion for dead flesh so overpowering. The strong dark wings throw shadows down Over fearful eyes gazing upward. Sharp, jabbing beaks open, Blowing evil breath in horrified faces. And vile yellow eyes are blinding spotlights Designed to obliterate all hope. |
