About the Poem
I can write this poem - and poke a little fun - because I am one.
Southern Bell |
by Faye Jones |
Facetious, the least to say! She can wile her way; Especially from an unsuspecting man, And come away with his heart in hand. Seems so fragile. She is emotional to a fault. Always must have full attention. Crying is her invention. She wants much and wants it now. Never a question about how, She just knows she deserves all, especially everyone's beck 'n call. Daddy's little princess. No other man can take his place; Or measure up to Daddy's giving, Surely can't make her a good enough living. Society stance is at the top of her list. A to-do and she is right in the mist. Gossip is her forte- "My, what's new today?" Maybe this is why, No matter how hard they try- To hear the gentlemen tell; No man can out-live a Southern Bell! |
