About the Poem
I had been a subscriber of AOL for three days when I met the man of my dreams. We met in a chat room, and were immediately drawn to one another by a force that neither of us understood . . . and still don't. We have so many things in common it's almost spooky sometimes . . . we were even born on the same day.
I had heard people talk about "falling in love" on the Internet and I would laugh and shake my head in disbelief. How could you possibly fall in love with words? I now understand exactly how that can happen. We are 1152 miles apart and I don't think that we will ever be together in a physical sense. Others complicate this matter so completely, and I think that we both know in our heart of hearts that there is no future for us. I feel blessed that I have had the opportunity to have this very special man in my life . . . if only for a while. His voice is a ray of sunshine in my life. He has brought about feelings in me I did not know I had. This is only my second poem ever . . . do not judge it too harshly . . . just let it speak to you.
In A Perfect World |
by Rose |
They met one night in a crowded room He spoke, she responded Polite banter at first Neither realizing That destiny had begun to loom So many similarities So many interests shared Too many to be coincidence Neither of them cared With every question asked A new layer was revealed Two souls reunited Their fate already sealed A smile, a laugh Words unspoken They knew if not careful Hearts would be broken Their fire burned white- hot from the first No time to waste, so much to say An unquenchable thirst "In a perfect world" he'd gently say And she'd sigh And the time would keep slipping away. |
