About the Poem

I wrote this poem a month after my grandmother died of lung cancer. I'm not a great poet, but this came from my heart.

I miss you Muddy, but I know that you're safe in the arms of Jesus.

It Won't Be Long

You said before you died,
that I was the key to your heart.
But the truth is you were mine.
I ask the Lord above,
to answer my prayers.
That you would come back.
But, that wouldn't be fair.
I now know that you're happy where you are.
Safe in the arms of Jesus,
without any cares.
But I want you to know,
that I still love you so.
And I'll go on living for Him,
Knowing that His light will never dim.
Someday together we'll be,
But, until then, the Lord will take care of me.
So, keep on watching,
It won't be long.
That from this world,
I'll be gone.
Into your arms once again,
Safe from all the worldly harm.

This poem really touched my heart. I am still grieving the loss of my dear sweet and precious Mom who went to be with the Lord last Jan. 22. Hello. I wanted to let the author of this poem know that this really touched me. Right now, my grandfather who I love so very much is in the hospital and is dying from cancer. Cancer is a tough thing to try to fight andhe is doing a pretty good job. 3 years ago when the doctors told our family he only had a year to live, we never expected him to live this long. Now things are catching up to him and pretty soon it'll be his time to go. I know that when I read this poem, I won't be alone. Thank you so much, Annie, for writing such a beautiful and inspiring poem.
Stephanie

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his names sake. Even through I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presents of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup over flows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. PSALM 23:1-6 I believe your grandmother is with Jesus!
