About the Poem
Starting over at 45 isn't easy, especially when it's not by one's own choice.
Starting Over |
by Jamie Vickers |
It's hard to image starting over at 45 years, I was not happy about it and shed many tears. Quite a while it took me to see, It's not all bad being free. You can do what you want without reporting to anyone, To spend your free time having fun. When you're tired you can go to bed, You don't have anyone waiting to be fed. Sometimes it's hard to be alone, Finding your children are all grown. Your husband has gone his own way now, And you stop and wonder how You ended up alone in the prime of your life, But taking care of yourself is not all strife. A sense of accomplishment comes with independence, and then starting over can make some sense. |
