About the Poem
Distance can form boundaries between two people, but love knows not of these boundaries.
Thy Love Consumes |
by Peta Elizabeth Downes |
Alas but thee must grace thine eyes Upon traveled image sent to thee And eyes not meet, nor fingertips kiss Oceans, walls of glass, bordering such that we cannot greet And yet, through written word I declare for naught, For feelings unleashed bereft in my heart Love, oh feelings do not know the sorrow of distance Love wills as time shall weave its way through the stars Shelter within my heart and hold thy dreams close I wait and watch for thee, a sign, a smile, to draw me close Shall thou trust thy soul to glow and bask me in dear light? Such warmth shall surely fill, completion doth cries for thee Delight known only to such passion as thy love consumes. |
