About the Poem
This poem was written for a friend of mine who was trying to answer a question he was asked. But really, love is not a question of ownership, it is a gift from the heart. May you find someone in your life that loves you completely, no matter the circumstances or the complications.
The Question Of Belonging |
by Judy Burnette |
The question was . . . "Are you in love with a woman you can't have? " That certainly is not true; I may not always be yours physically But I certainly belong to you. You are the light in my eyes The smile upon my face; You are the beat of my heart You are my arm's most treasured embrace. You are my first thought in the morning My last one when I close my eyes at might; You are the one my love embraces And one day I will be by your side. So, you see, your friend was mistaken For we love each other that is true; I may not share your last name But I certainly belong to you. |

It takes a lot of courage and talent to express your feelings with as much grace as Judy did. The complexity of the emotion was presented with so much heart.

I really liked this poem. It is very touching and it also fits in with a situation that I am dealing with. I have it saved to my favorites. I am just wondering if the author wrote this because this was going on in her life? Good job Judy.
