About the Poem

Anyone who has ever been in love, knows the wonderful feeling of holding hands and sitting side by side. Watching a sunset, or a moonrise, or the tide coming in. Just being. Just being together. Even if being together means having faith in tomorrow.

A Whisper

Last night I watched the sun set -
The couple sitting in dark silhouette,
Heads on shoulders, hands entwine,
One of body, soul, and mind.

His Mountain.
Her Lakeshore.
Vast canyons -
A possibility of much more.

No promises made,
Nothing to keep.
Perhaps a whisper
Floats in the dark, so deep.

Despite good intentions,
But with faith ensured,
Runs deep emotions -
We will endure.

Ask nothing of me.
Nothing I will ask of you.
Just one disclaimer,
To thine own heart be true.

When you awaken
Greet the morning light,
Look to the East -
It will be all right.

Heads on shoulders,
Souls entwine,
Embrace softly -
Thine heart is mine.
