About the Poem

This poem provides a corny metaphor which expresses my own heart. (of course, it's not corny from where I stand, but I realize that by comparing one's beloved to a Jacaranda tree may be an overdone comparison in some cultures) after all, is there a tree more beautiful?

Jacaranda

Purple flowers whose scent
nourishes the believer's soul
whose petals form a bed as soft as clouds
strong branches that support my own foothold

- when the limb is weak
I will nurture you to strength
just as you,
have so many times shaded my own failings

Your gentle breeze soothes my aching heart -

I want others to climb you too;
to share in your endless beauty

You must know that I will never allow
the man with the axe
to bleed your precious sap

Kali
I really enjoyed reading this poem. It seemed to be a new view of love and I rather enjoyed it very much. I sent it to two of my friends and I hope that they enjoyed as much as I did.
