About the Poem
This poem was written after a fight with someone whom I love very much. I was hurt and trying to decide whether to end the relationship; this was the inner battle I had with myself.
The Fight |
by Cathye Haney |
As I sit here listening To the fight going on Between my head and my heart I feel numb inside. My head says "I'm a fool;" My heart says, "But you Love him so." My head says "He will Hurt you again." My heart answers, "But He also makes me happy." My head says, "Look at All the tears he Made you cry." My heart answers, "Yes, But he also gives Me pleasure." My head says, "You Are strong and can Get over him." My heart answers, "He makes me feel Alive and whole." I need him and I love him. Without Him I would only Be existing. I slowly shake my Head, "No," knowing My heart has won once More. |

This poem is great. It is true, to battle your heart when you love someone is unbearable. You want to leave but your heart won't let you say the words.

Wow, that is one of the best poems I have ever read. Trust me, people out there feel the same as you do.

This is wonderful it cuts right inside and says it in way unexpressable.

I just want to say this is a very good poem.

Such a true statement! The fight continues within each and every person who is in love; no matter what they may say. People feel so complete in any relationship, and they forget what truly makes them happy.

It's not easy to portray that sense of grief and confusion through words...
