About the Poem

This poem deals with the feelings of an individual who has broken up with his significant other. It is something that a majority of people feel after losing the one you love. At least, this is how I felt at the time. Breaking up is something that takes time to get over for some people.

Nobody

It's gone
What's gone? My mind?
Soul? No, I'm fine
Not really
Deep inside, something is missing
The love and tender kissing
She walked out herself
Now all I do is talk to myself
in the mirror, with my reflection
My heart is dead
Soon it will make a resurrection
Once the wounds heal
And I'm loved for real
A type of love I can feel
But nobody loves me
Nobody cares
Nobody loves me
That nobody is me
I can't love myself because no one does
I'm all alone and no longer what I once was
But the only thing that keeps me alive
Is knowing that the next day, it might all change
For the best
And that "nobody" becomes somebody

i love your poem. i have suffered from a broken heart for over ten years and found 'nobody'. that nobody was me. i guess if we choose not to love, even when it challenges us then we remain alone, forever - until we choose to love again as we should. in ignorance of all that went before, i am afraid. choose not to love at your peril as nothing but nothing comes after.

I think this poem is the most depressing poem i ever heard, unfortunatly or fortunatly losing love is so painfull that this poem is actually good. But please remember the pain you are feeling now, is nothing compared to the real love and joy you will experience once the "one" finally shows up. all in its own time!

Hi Maze. I just want to tell you that as i was reading this I was looking back to my pass. Let me tell you I had one serious boyfriend in my whole life, and as i was reading it reminded me of him, he is no longer in my life, and we no longer talk to each other. I always knew that we weren't suppose to be together because, I knew that God didn't want that for me at the time because God had different plans. When I finally realized that God didn't want me to be with him, shortly after that we completely ended. This is when i came to God, and he has now healed me, no longer broken.

Well. where do I start? I nominated this poem because it really speaks from the truth of the heart. Once we are loved by someone, and that someone leaves us, we quickly become a nobody to ourselves. And when, in this poem, it is mentioned that the nobody is the writer, it really made me think. The author is right. The only one that sees the broken-hearted as a nobody is that person, themself. I know that, because I am that nobody. And this poem was almost like I was writing to myself. I love poems that I can relate to, so it makes perfect sense as to why I liked this one so much.
