About the Poem

This poem is about what I went through, and what I was afraid of happening, it's about abuse, taking the blame, then realizing different in the end, when it's too late, and innocence being regained too late.

One To Blame

There was a boy,
he was eight.
His father showed him
endless hate.
When he was bad, or disobeyed,
a belt or fist was the price
he paid.

He thought he did wrong.
That he deserved the pain, but
he didn't know his father
was the blame.

A few years passed, he was ten,
He suffered bruises from end to end.
His father came home, drunk again,
and showed his anger
and suffering with pain.

He thought he did wrong,
that he deserved the pain,
but he didn't know his father
was really to blame.

Five more years passed,
His father was accused for
murder of the innocent one.
The boy, on life support,
suffered undying pain.
While his father sat in jail,
suffering no shame.
He sat until he heard
the dreadful news,
that the boy was not strong,
and couldn't take the pain...
So they took off the support,
and took away the pain.

He knew he did wrong,
that the boy deserved no pain,
but he realized too late,
that he was to blame.

This was a very good poem and sadly yes it does happen. Maybe you repeated pain too many times but you will learn the skill over the years.
