About the Poem

This poem I wrote January 11, 1999, and I wrote this for any one who has ever said "I understand" because in fact they don't. They can't. I don't look at the world, I look in the world.

Through My Eyes

Like tyrants assembled with tears
Trembling like a tomb
And singing like a statue
I am as empty as the ocean.
My blind eyes scream in silence
So this eternal echo will be known.
Given to the foils of time,
And shattered like plate glass-
You freeze within the fire.
Darkness now lives at daylight,
And shadows turn to the ghosts.
With all that shined is hollow
You imagine unconsciously.
And pretending to sleep you realize,
Nothing is what it seems.

The poem is very good. I'm not going to sit here and say I understand, but in a few aspects I do. And this sucks, so form my view. You had to have dealed with alot, and I'm giving you the credit of writing such a unique and beautiful poem in place fo how you feel!
eli

no one can walk in your footsteps or see what you see. no one can change you or heal your broken fall. unless you let them to understand it all. darkness creeps and crawls like shadows to scare us all.

You said at the very beginning, about the thing telling a little about the poem, that this was for people who said that they understand. People do understand, because everyone goes through a time of depression whether they are willing to admit it or not. Ive gone through it,so whether you like it or not, your not alone, people do understood. Though i actually thought your poem was really good.

Nobody ever really knows the true pains of another's heart until they express their feelings through words and actions and still they have only have seen the outer skin of the pain. The way she has expressed her pain almost makes you feel as if it is your own. True work of an artist.
Cylina

The poem very beautifully speaks of the emotions that run wild in a heart smothered by sorrows. Everything looks empty and pallid.
Kathryn
I loved this poem, and I really liked what you said at the top, about people always saying they understand, and how u look in the world and not at it, you are of this world and not a part of it when you are sad,
Louise
This is a strong poem, at its best where it doesn't try to be too grandiose.
heather
