About the Poem

Lovers apart. There are no words that quite explain it. But what I am trying to do is giving sense of two times, then and know, ending with a small bit of what might be. She has no equal on this planet.

Slow Day Sunshine

Easter time and
it's been almost a year now,
melting snow on dead yellow grass,
the asphalt torn and unfriendly.
Those last few months
have given me little but shivers
quite unlike those you brought
to the surface of my body.
Back then when you know and
amazingly the sun shines,
which is perhaps normal since
you were always the only one who
ever actually managed to shadow it,
like a transparent flame from hell,
licking the divine light
today like a snail.
Rays of sunlight
cutting a dusty living room
we are far moved apart
and it never came to an end
our feelings never ceased
as they never began
just always there
revealed to the soul
on the day we met
and I have tried as I know
you must have tried
to just leave it as a memory
I have failed at that completely
and am now ready
only to do whatever it takes
to get back to you again
and take you on that world tour of love
we talked about
before black ugly circumstances
gave us two different sides of Planet Earth.

Erin
Wow. I really loved that. The imagery at the beginning was really good. I could see what you were describing. And feel it as well. I think that anyone who has been away from somone they love can relate to that poem.
