About the Poem

This poem illustrates simply the pain of losing someone and having to watch them move on away from you. Losing my first love was so painful that even now I feel twinges of remorse whenever I think of him.

A Glance

You walk by -
With only a glance at me.
With my heart
In my face,
Can you not see?
No flash of emotion-
Gone is the devotion -
Dead the loving notion.
Only a glance.

Beautiful, so clean and fresh, love it. Short but very sweet.

Too much poetry seems to me little more than trite, overcomplicated regurgitation. This is simple, direct and above all heartrendingly genuine. It needs to be the future of poetry.
