About the Poem

This poem is merely about the feelings behind the end of your first love relationship at age 16. It's about how the good times are all we seem to remember, and always seem to linger in our minds. Every last detail of movement or words clings to our memory.

If Love Is Red, Then We Are Colorblind

All I can seem to think of,
Are those times when you made my heart dance.
It danced with yours in perfect rhythm,
When they were close enough.

All I can seem to think of,
Is the way your eyes stared into mine.
You could make me lose my knees,
When you were close enough.

All I can seem to think of,
Are the words you always whispered into my ear.
You could send chills down my spine,
When you whispered close enough.

All I can seem to think of,
Is your thumb that slowly touched my hand.
That comfort could bring tears to my eyes,
When you did it close enough.

All I can seem to think of,
Are those times you'd kiss me for being me.
You'd put that incredible feeling in my stomach,
And you were always close enough.

All I can seem to think of,
Is the time your heart stopped dancing, your
eyes looked away, you lost your voice,
your hand wasn't there anymore, your
lips weren't near mine, and when love turned
red, and we became colorblind.
You're making me miss you...
I guess we weren't close enough.
