About the Poem

This poem was written about my strong feelings for my boyfriend and how his actions affect me. It was at a time when I was feeling sad and had low self- esteem so that I couldn't see how he could still be in love with me. It made me wonder if he was being faithful because we had broken up in the past because his loving eyes, and lips, did go astray.

Gone Astray?

He told me that he loved me so
I believed him, letting my feelings grow.
Time to time his heart did move
the dagger in my heart left a groove.
One day he moved away
I made myself think it would be okay
Sometimes I ponder
if his loving eyes will wander
With all the fishies in the sea
Why would he want to be with me?
