About the Poem

We all must learn our own lessons, and rarely do we heed the warnings of others. If we can learn from our own mishaps, though, wisdom shall be ours. We are, in fact, the sum total of our experiences.

Sapience

In pondering our days of yore,
Life's truths we've met at every door ~
Each lesson more profound than last,
Our souls the sum of all days past

Thence wisdom may we recognize
To view the world through clearer eyes,
And hope that e'er each 'morrow brings
Us vanquished plight on splendent wings.
